Hello, my name is Mike, and I have a problem.
Sometimes doing historical research can send you down the path of compulsively gathering useless historical facts of limited interest out of an obsession for completeness. Yes, I was seduced to the dark side and spent a few hours a couple years back compiling a complete as possible list of the double features that ran at the Beach Theatre in Seal Beach from Los Angeles Times movie listings taken from from November 22nd, 1945 to June 23rd, 1946. It’s very likely that the Beach Theatre was closed after May 4th even though the L.A. Times Independent Theatre Guide kept a Beach Theatre listing with instruction to “Call Theater for Program.”
I am not asking for pity and will not flinch from your condemnations. I hope this page will serve as a cautionary tale to local history buffs, grade school scholars, and pursuers of trivia. Learn from my example and get a life.
